The Near East University, which was founded in 1988 and is located in Nicosia, the capital of North Cyprus, offers the most extensive undergraduate and postgraduate education opportunities to more than 26 thousand students who come from more than 100 different countries. The Near East University features 28 research institutes, 28 faculties with a total of 220 departments and programs, 8 graduate schools with a total of about 218 graduate and postgraduate programs, 3 high schools, and many international memberships. The University is already a full member of 118 other national and international organizations and foundations, including the European University Association (EUA), the International Association of Universities (IAU) under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Society for Engineering Education (IGIP), Joint Commission International (JCI), and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World (FUIW). Additionally, many more membership applications for various disciplines are already in the works.

The Near East University, which stands out as a small center for education in the heart of Cyprus, boasts several firsts for the island. Near East University offers its students a wide range of on-campus amenities and opportunities, including athletic fields, retail establishments, dining halls, dormitories with a capacity for 5,000 people, health and fitness facilities, hospitals, cafes, student clubs, a radio-TV center, a library, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, national and international banks, travel agencies, and a post office, from early in the morning until late at night, scheduled coaches operate between the city and the airport, with 24-hour security and medical services.

Since its founding, the Near East University, which initially set out to educate self-assured, highly qualified, committed, and driven people, has made remarkable strides and grown to become the country’s largest higher education institution and cultural hub.
