The Girne American University (GAU), which was established in 1985 as the city of Kyrenia’s first private school of higher learning, recently celebrated its 35th birthday. Since its inception, the institution has aimed to offer comprehensive higher education that meets American standards to students in North Cyprus who are of many nationalities.

The American Educational Consortium, a global organization created to communicate with educational institutions providing education in the American system, launched the Girne American University. The institution maintains high academic standards set by the educational system while also evolving and improving.
